Abstract. 

In the article the priority directions of the authorities of the Volgograd region in the sphere of employment and labour migration today are studied. The authors pay a special attention to the important aspects of the activity of regional authorities in the prevention of an increased unemployment and migration reflux of the population which become obvious social problems together with the deceleration of the economic growth, dependence of the regional economy on the resource industries and a low investment activity. The activity of regional authorities of the correction of the regional legal base in the sphere of the employment and labour migration is studied. At the same time a special attention is paid to the activity of the Committee for Labour and Employment of the population and their territorial employment offices. It was shown which changes took place in the regional labour market during the latest four years in the movement of the labour force, people employed in the economy, labour migrants and unemployed people. The forecast indices in the organization and the realization of the events allowing to regulate the sphere of the employment and labour migration are studied. The authors emphasized the peculiarities of the implementation of the governmental program “Assistance to the voluntary resettlement into the Russian Federation of the compatriots living abroad” in the Volgograd region. It is proved that the system of the management of migration flows that is present today requires a more balanced and a more coordinated approach by the authorities. The authors think that it is necessary to support the introduction of a balanced policy in the sphere of the employment and the labour migration at the regional level. It will allow reducing the risks of a negative scenario of the Volgograd region development.
