Abstract. This paper analyses the indicators of the economic security of the Far Eastern regions: gross regional product, gross harvest of grain, volume of investment in fixed assets, unemployment, internal current expenditures on research and development, share of innovative products in the total volume of industrial production, share of people with incomes below the subsistence level, decile coefficient of differentiation of incomes and the share of mechanical engineering and metal in the total industrial production. With the help of statistical and econometric methods the prospects for the change in the level of the economic security of border regions of the Far East of the Russian Federation are evaluated. The approach to ensuring the economic security of border regions of the Far East of the Russian Federation in modern conditions is analyzed. The proposed approach to the comparative evaluation of economic levels of security of border regions of the Far East of the Russian Federation reveals the priorities of regional socio-economic development in the modern conditions. It is concluded that under the conditions of the implementation of its Russian “Eurasian mission” a priority task of regional economic security of border regions of the Far East of the Russian Federation remains.
