Abstract.

The article investigates the role of social conflict as an indicator of the level of public development. The article offers the author 's opinion on the origin of social conflict, the stages of its course and resulting implications. It is proved that the basic form of social development are the social contradictions. Social conflict is submitted in the form of a mathematical function of the integral, which allows a detailed analysis of it. The conclusion is drawn that the conflict is a real form of public relations, which express the interaction of individuals, social groups in the relationship that do not match their needs and motivations.
