Abstract. This article analyzes the prospects for the socioeconomic development of the Rostov Region fr om 2026 to 2030, taking into account the updated concept for Russia’s spatial development to 2030 (with a forecast to 2036). The first part of the article presents expert insights into the challenges and problems facing the Russian Federation at its current historical juncture. It is argued that the update of the “Strategy for Spatial Development of the Russian Federation...”, which took place between 2024 and 2025, is of particular interest, as this document, for the first time, explicitly outlines the need for profound transformations in the country’s territorial and economic paradigm. The following key principles for implementing the strategy are outlined: the creation of a list of development priorities for each support community (SC), for which the region wh ere they are deployed is responsible; the organization of ongoing monitoring of the Strategy’s implementation status using tools from a digital platform for managing integrated socio-economic and spatial development to ensure the alignment of sectoral and spatial priorities, infrastructure development plans, and territorial planning documents; and the transition to a “supply-side economy” concept in both the current and future time horizons, relying on the domestic market and Russia’s own resource potential for modernizing the national economy. The authors substantiate the need to revise national socio-economic policy and transition to a new vision of the country’s historical development, which is largely associated with the intensification of work at all levels of government to develop a roadmap for transforming the Russian economy into a sovereign and rapidly growing one, and the coordination of a full range of strategic planning documents.
