Abstract. The importance of the study is due to the growing importance of food security and the need to improve the efficiency of urban agriculture in the face of global challenges. The paper examines the main parameters that affect the efficiency of urban agriculture, such as the area of land used, agricultural production, availability of fresh food, and the introduction of modern technologies. The purpose of the study: analysis of urban agriculture as a sustainable solution to ensure food security in megalopolises, with an emphasis on the city of Saint Petersburg. The subject of the study is the impact of urban agriculture on food security, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development of megalopolises. The paper uses quantitative and qualitative analysis methods, including statistical data collection, modeling, and comparative analysis. Expert assessments and forecasting were also used to determine trends and prospects for the development of urban agriculture. The study showed that urban agriculture in St. Petersburg has significant potential for food security growth, reducing the carbon footprint, and improving the municipal ecology.
